KELOWNA, BC / ACCESS Newswire / October 21, 2026 / Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (NASDAQ:LEXX) (the "Company" or "Lexaria"), a global innovator in drug delivery platforms, reports that full enrollment has been reached and dosing continues on schedule with Human Pilot Study #7 (GLP-1-H26-7) which is evaluating two oral DehydraTECH-semaglutide ("DHT-sema") compositions against Novo's® commercially available Wegovy® tablets, over a 5-week duration (the "Study").

The final Study arm was fully enrolled and began dosing, as scheduled, in early October. This final group is expected to complete their dosing in mid-November, to be followed by completion of all laboratory sample analyses and reporting.

Lexaria will provide a further progress update once all dosing has been completed.

About the Study

The Study is investigating three separate arms to assess safety & tolerability as well as PK properties that will compare SNAC-inclusive, DHT-sema compositions formulated in both tablet and capsule formats to commercially available Wegovy® tablets. The Study is being conducted under fasted pre-dose conditions similar to the advised administration criteria of Novo's oral semaglutide products. The 5-week dosing duration was selected in order to allow for achievement of steady state concentration levels, meaning that the semaglutide blood quantities in each arm will be expected to reach an equilibrium level that balances drug input with natural bodily elimination.

The Study is exploring several new DehydraTECH™ enhancements not previously evaluated, which include but are not limited to the following two main improvements:

(1) First, an oral tablet DHT-sema composition will be used by Lexaria for the first time, as opposed to only the capsule compositions administered in all our previous DehydraTECH™ GLP-1 studies. Novo's Rybelsus® and Wegovy® oral semaglutide medications use specially formulated tablets designed to temporarily adhere to the stomach lining and disintegrate and dissolve, releasing agents in a focal manner that aids in optimizing absorption of semaglutide into the human body. For the first time ever, Lexaria has attempted to mimic and integrate certain physical properties of the Rybelsus® and Wegovy® SNAC-inclusive tablet delivery modality into its DHT-sema tablets to follow established industry standards and thereby increase the likelihood of subsequent commercial pharmaceutical relationships.

(2) Second, both the Lexaria DHT-sema tablet and capsule test articles will be formulated with SNAC, which will be the first time these formulations will be evaluated over a multi-dose, multi-week time period in humans. The five-week dosing duration of the Study is expected to be long enough to reach so-called steady-state, which is when drug concentrations in the body reach a constant concentration. As noted above, Human Pilot Studies #1 and #2 (GLP-1-H24-1 and GLP-1-H24-2), conducted in 2024 and 2025 which incorporated SNAC (but did not use tablets), were limited by single-dose study designs and therefore of much shorter duration.

The Study is fully funded from existing corporate resources.

Results highlighted by a 566% improvement in brain absorption of DehydraTECH-CBD

KELOWNA, BC / ACCESS Newswire / October 15, 2026 / Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (NASDAQ:LEXX) (the "Company" or "Lexaria"), a global innovator in drug delivery platforms, is pleased to provide the following results from animal study GLP-1-A26-1 (the "Study") that evaluated a number of formulation enhancements using both DehydraTECH-CBD ("DHT-CBD") compositions and DehydraTECH-semaglutide ("DHT-SEMA") glucagon-like peptide-1 ("GLP-1") compositions to explore the potential for additional improved performance, as well as stake new intellectual property ("IP") claims.

Lexaria has already filed 3 new patent applications related to the formulations evaluated in this Study to protect this new IP. As these patent applications are not yet published, we will not be providing full details of all the specific formulations or outcomes at this time.

"We are delighted that certain new formulations in this Study achieved our highest-ever DehydraTECH pharmaceutical-grade relative absorption performance," said Rich Christopher, CEO of Lexaria Bioscience Corp. "These new formulation enhancements should enable Lexaria to achieve even greater performance in the future and help us to stay ahead of competitive oral delivery developments in 2027 and beyond."

DHT-CBD Blood Plasma Results:

The DHT-CBD (ALT1) Study arm provided superior absorption into blood plasma as compared to one of Lexaria's best, pharmaceutical-grade, historical formulations which was used as the reference ("REF") Study arm. In addition, the DHT-CBD (ALT2) and DHT-CBD (ALT3) Study arms also provided strong blood plasma absorption performance albeit lower than both DHT-CBD (ALT1) and REF Study arms. Of note, none of the DHT-CBD ALT Study arms demonstrated statistically significantly (p<0.05) different blood plasma absorption levels from the REF Study arm indicating that any and all of the DHT-CBD ALT Study arm compositions could potentially be viable candidates for future development and commercialization pursuits in place of the REF composition tested.

AUClast/D
(h*ng/mL)/(mg/kg)

DHT-CBD (REF)8.65 ± 4.4231.2 ± 18.5
DHT-CBD (ALT1)9.30 ± 3.9234.5 ± 16.3
DHT-CBD (ALT2)3.74 ± 1.1819.5 ± 4.03
DHT-CBD (ALT3)6.28 ± 2.4928.4 ± 8.87

Cmax/D refers to the dose-adjusted peak blood plasma drug concentration.

AUClast/D refers to the dose-adjusted total drug exposure up to the last measured timepoint in the Study.

DHT-CBD Brain Tissue Results:

Each of the 3 Study arms DHT-CBD (ALT1), DHT-CBD (ALT2), and DHT-CBD (ALT3), delivered superior absorption into brain tissue as compared to the same historical formulation used as the REF. Further, DHT-CBD (ALT2) evidenced a massive 566% improvement in mean brain absorption as compared to the REF arm 8 hours after dosing. This relative increase in brain absorption is greater than what we expected and is worthy of additional investigation. Distribution of specific drugs into brain tissue can empower dramatic improvements of that drug's overall effectiveness.

Treatment

CBD in brain homogenate 24 hours post-dose (ng/g)
mean ± SD
DHT-CBD (REF)9.42 ± 1.910.00 ± 0.00
DHT-CBD (ALT1)11.6 ± 4.090.00 ± 0.00
DHT-CBD (ALT2)62.8 ± 34.33.55 ± 3.28
DHT-CBD (ALT3)38.7 ± 17.70.00 ± 0.00

DHT-SEMA Blood Plasma Results:

For the DHT-SEMA Study arms, DHT-SEMA (ALT2) was the highest performer, also without any statistically significantly (p<0.05) different blood plasma absorption levels from the REF Study arm, indicating it too could potentially be a viable candidate for future development and commercialization pursuits in place of the REF composition.

It is also important to note that there were some ingredient differences comparing certain of the ALT1, ALT2, and ALT3 formulations used in the DHT-SEMA Study arms versus the DHT-CBD Study arms despite use of the same ALT nomenclature in both cases. This was because Lexaria tested certain prospective formulation enhancement strategies in each case that were tailored to the very different active pharmaceutical ingredients of CBD versus SEMA.

Treatment
Arm
Cmax/D
(ng/mL)/(mg/kg)
mean ± SD
AUClast/D
(h*ng/mL)/(mg/kg)

DHT-SEMA (REF)88.7 ± 52.4270 ± 170
DHT-SEMA (ALT1)14.0 ± 16.344.6 ± 69.3
DHT-SEMA (ALT2)58.8 ± 77.2153 ± 189
DHT-SEMA (ALT3)32.7 ± 25.896.3 ± 77.2

DHT-SEMA Brain Tissue Results:

Unfortunately, the DHT-SEMA concentrations in brain tissue were all at levels below the lower limit of quantitation of the bioassay utilized in this Study and, therefore, non-reportable. By comparison, in Lexaria's previous brain biodistribution study, a predominantly higher apparent trend in brain biodistribution was evidenced with a specific DHT-SEMA composition compared to a Rybelsus® equivalent SEMA control composition that was tested in that study. However, that brain biodistribution study employed a more sensitive fluorescently tagged SEMA detection bioassay methodology that was not a practical option for the present Study.

Investigatory animal work, such as this Study, is designed to assist the Company in its pursuit of furthering performance enhancements of existing and future potential DHT compositions. Lexaria is very pleased to have apparently made new discoveries, in particular in the area of relative brain absorption with DHT-CBD, and will be considering how to potentially leverage our new learnings and IP; as well as investigate the potential of utilization of those formulation enhancements to other drug categories. Of note, all four instances of discovering DHT ALT compositions that exhibited non-inferiority statistically speaking to the respective REF compositions were important advancements for the Company giving it optionality relative to certain IP strategies it is pursuing to facilitate its commercialization objectives.

About the Study

This Study was designed in part to evaluate innovative alternative formulations to SNAC (salcaprozate sodium) which is currently in use by Novo® with their oral Rybelsus® and Wegovy® tablet products. Lexaria is trying to discover DehydraTECH-compatible formulations with similarity or superiority to SNAC performance enhancements with which we may be able to establish valuable new proprietary IP and an industry alternative to SNAC that could be of value within the keenly competitive GLP-1 sector.

The Study utilized Sprague-Dawley rats with 11 separate Study arms evaluating a number of different novel DHT-CBD and DHT-SEMA compositions relative to certain historical DHT-CBD and DHT-SEMA compositions and also intravenously administered non-DHT CBD and SEMA preparations. Blood samples were taken at multiple timepoints through an 8-24 hour post-dosing period to quantify the pharmacokinetic performance of each composition. In addition, the Study measured drug concentrations in the brain.

  • Oral GLP-1 market projected to expand from $5.1 billion in 2026 to $89 billion in 2034
  • Novo announces additional weight-loss in patients switching from injected to oral delivery

KELOWNA, BC / ACCESS Newswire / October 6, 2026 / Lexaria Bioscience Corp. (NASDAQ:LEXX) (the "Company" or "Lexaria"), a global innovator in drug delivery platforms, is providing this strategic update.

Lexaria's DehydraTECH™ technology is currently being evaluated both by Lexaria and pharmaceutical industry partners for use within the rapidly growing GLP-1 receptor agonist and weight-loss/diabetes drug industries. Those industry segments were valued at $62.8 billion in 2025 and are estimated to grow to $73.4 billion in 2026 and to $254.2 billion by 2034. This growth far exceeds earlier forecasts and validates Lexaria's 2023 strategic decision to increasingly focus its resources towards this sector.

DehydraTECH technology is designed to improve the absorption of drugs taken orally, in formats such as pills, capsules, and liquids, while at the same time reducing unwanted side effects. In a recent survey, 71% of respondents replied that they would prefer taking a daily pill compared to a weekly injection of GLP-1 drugs.

Both the healthcare and the financial industries, including JP Morgan, expect faster future growth with oral GLP-1 drugs than with injected drugs. Novo, the owner of the multi-billion-dollar brands Ozempic® and Wegovy®, originally envisioned virtually all GLP-1 drugs being administered by injection, but early in 2026, Executive Vice President Ludovic Helfgott stated that he believes that oral doses "could actually represent up to a third-plus of that market overall." Detailed sales data from within the industry appears to be confirming this as true, since, for example, the oral version of semaglutide is now capturing about 35% of new prescriptions, with the other 65% being injectable.

More recently, the CEO of Novo, Mike Doustdar, stated in late September that he believes that oral medications could capture as much as half of the global market. Lexaria believes that the evolution of the GLP-1 market from injectables to orals represents one of the most attractive opportunities in the pharmaceutical world today.

According to a report from Grandview Research, injected GLP-1 drugs captured 93% of the market in 2025 and examination of industry revenue figures represent that 5% to 7% market share for oral GLP-1 products remains consistent today. This suggests that 7% of a 2026 market of $73.4 billion is a current market opportunity of $5.1 billion for oral GLP-1 drugs today.

If oral GLP-1 drugs were to indeed comprise 35% of the future market, and if the market expands to over $254 billion as expected above, then the oral GLP-1 market will be ~$89 billion in 2034, compared to $5.1 billion today. This is the market segment for which Lexaria's DehydraTECH is being evaluated. If innovations in the GLP-1 oral delivery industry improve absorption and/or reduce side effects more than currently expected, then Novo's CEO projection of "half" market share could even prove to be conservative.

On September 30, Novo announced that people who were previously using either Novo's injected Wegovy® or competitor Eli Lilly's injected Zepbound®, and then switched to oral Wegovy®, lost an average of 4.1% of bodyweight (8.8lbs) in the three months after ceasing the injectable drug. It seems a remarkable achievement given that people had already received injections of GLP-1 drugs before they began their 3-month study on oral Wegovy® and certainly seems supportive of the looming trend towards oral drug delivery in the fastest-growing drug category in the world today.

"For roughly 3 years, Lexaria has been demonstrating the applicability of our DehydraTECH drug delivery technology to the oral GLP-1 market - a segment that barely existed when we began those efforts," said Richard Christopher, CEO of Lexaria Bioscience Corp. "Our corporate vision is sound and in harmony with market needs. We are working diligently towards DehydraTECH's eventual adoption within this large and rapidly growing marketplace."
